Dr Ken W.S. Tan

Dr Ken Tan is a compassionate and experienced Obstetrician who is committed to caring for you and your baby.
Dr Tan holds a Diploma of Diagnostic Ultrasound from Australian Society of Ultrasound Medicine, and is highly qualified to perform ultrasound assessment for your baby / babies.
Pregnancy is an exciting time but occasionally it may be complicated with certain medical conditions. Our aim is to treat pregnancy as normal as possible but to remain vigilant to any potential complications.
Dr Tan has considerable expertise with complex high risk pregnancies (multiple pregnancies, pregnancy complicated with medical condition, fetal anomalies). He also provides a dedicated service assisting Fertility Specialists with detailed ultrasound procedures (saline infusion sonography) to identify treatable causes of infertility.
Dr Tan provides continuity of pregnancy care with the support of his practice midwives and attends the following hospitals for births:

Ken is passionate about educational programs and is keen member of the Asio-Pacific Fetal Medicine community and continues to make contributions to expand knowledge. He has a keen interest in the future of stem cells in presenting serious diseases.
He is hoping to improve his marathon finish time in his spare time and enjoys spending quality time with his wife and son.

Dr Roberto Orefice
B.App Sc (Physiotherapy) MBBS AFHEA FRANZCOG DDU CMFM
Obstetrician
Dr Roberto Orefice is an experienced obstetrician and Maternal Fetal Medicine Specialist.
Roberto provides individualised, evidenced based, women centred care.
Roberto is a local Canberran who obtained his post graduate medical qualification through the Australian National University. Roberto completed his Obstetrics and Gynaecology training in Canberra where he embarked in further subspecialty training in Maternal Fetal Medicine, finishing his Fellowship at King Edward Memorial Hospital in Perth.
Roberto is a consultant at the Fetal Medicine Unit at the Centenary Hospital for Women and Children, where he manages high risk pregnancies. He has a special interest in pre term birth prevention, pre eclampsia and also provides pre pregnancy counselling. He is a lecturer at The Australian National University and is involved in training and supervising junior doctors. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and three children.

Professor Abdel-Latif Mohamed
Neonatologist & Paediatrician
Professor Abdel-Latif Mohamed is a Consultant Paediatrician and Neonatologist dedicated to the care of newborns, infants, and young children. He provides comprehensive assessment and ongoing management for babies from birth through the early years, with a strong emphasis on healthy development, early intervention, and supporting families during this important stage of life.
Professor Mohamed is a Fellow of both the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) and the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH) in the United Kingdom.
He currently practises within the neonatal services at Calvary John James Hospital, where he cares for premature babies and newborns requiring specialist medical support.
Alongside his clinical practice, Professor Mohamed is an academic at the Australian National University (ANU) Medical School and is actively involved in neonatal and perinatal research. His research interests include improving outcomes for premature infants through collaborative clinical studies, population-based research, and the development of evidence-based approaches that enhance neonatal care.
His areas of clinical expertise include:
- Newborn and infant health assessments
- Growth and developmental monitoring
- Feeding and nutrition concerns
- Follow-up care for premature and medically complex infants
- General neonatal and paediatric care
Professor Mohamed is committed to delivering compassionate, family-centred care. He works closely with parents to provide clear explanations, practical guidance, and reassurance while ensuring any developmental or medical concerns are recognised and addressed as early as possible.
In addition to his clinical and research commitments, Professor Mohamed contributes to the education and mentoring of medical students, paediatric trainees, and junior doctors. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and continues to contribute to advances in neonatal and perinatal medicine.
